It’s not a game that tries to glorify war, so I'm cool with that.

Hmm, I basically felt that they were overdone the moment they appeared in a single spinoff game. All of their power as characters came from the context of the original game and it’s story, they just always fell flat outside of it.

The only thing I really appreciated in any of the spinoffs was getting more of that

In a roundabout way yes. It’s an interactive show where viewers can vote during the live broadcast on what happens next to the characters and story. It’s like a really long cut scene in a game.

Kinda hope they just fully move away from P and do a different character each game. I feel like P had his story, and I was satisfied with it, and now any further story with him will just feel like “and then he did another thing” rather than something personal and rooted in an actual character arc. But maybe they’ll

My controversial take is that Persona 5 has the absolute weakest cast of any of the games since 3, and one of my least favorite casts in a game that I actually completed (usually when they suck, I just drop the game and move on.)

In-order:

Ryuji: Dumb, annoying shithead who reliably makes the worst decision possible

I mean is this at all surprising given its history of being one of the MOST exploitative and abusive companies for game devs to work at, putting profits well above making good games, making targeted attacks against those employees who attempt to prioirtize making good games, and having a wide variety of beloved

Konami has lost the juice, they aren’t good at doing things anymore.

Even after moving away from actively developing their own games, they are still unable to manage the brands they own without disappointing everyone.

You certainly managed to draw a lot of conclusions about games that are 100+ hours long without actually playing them, based entirely on very small amounts of information. Clearly, we have found our new authority on the subject.

The game found his playerbase. People that paid nothing for it.

Then you either have been dreadfully deprived of some of the best digital entertainment, or you're Todd Howard.

Ubi proc-gen’d the islands in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, but then they went over it by hand. They used the proc-gen as a the canvas, not the final painting. And the world was pretty damn good.

You know the phrase “the ends justify the means”?

Yahtzee talked about this recently in an Extra Punctuation video: Empty space is fine so long as it’s fun to traverse the empty space. For example, look at Spider-man 2: There’s a lot of empty space in NYC at any given point between activities. However, traversing that space is a fun activity in and of itself.

I had a hunch that this endeavor wouldn’t be worthwhile in the long run. The idea of procedural generation can be effective in moderation. No Man’s Sky faced similar issues, and many games that heavily rely on procedurally generated content and promote endless exploration often come up short. It can result in

Quality is always better than quantity. I don’t really care if a game has 100 solar systems to explore if said systems are boring to explore. Starfield has so much POI recycling and the planetary traversal is so boring that BGS somehow ruined what’s historically been the best part of their games: exploration.

Honestly I’m just kind of done with Fatalities at this point. They were shocking way back when they first appeared and them being secrets added a layer of allure.

It’s a factual statement.

A sweater with holes that just says “Tarnished” is not worth $255 imo lol

OK I am hearing you but why does this look awesome anyway
