People on coke and/or X don't tend to scarf down sandwiches while talking about how they're starving. He does drugs too, obviously, but tonight they showed that he's bouncing off the walls even while sober. It would also explain his bizarre behavior since he fell out with Mickey and joined the army.

Yes, a Gallagher with addiction problems is such uncharted territory!

What was that last week about "delusional fanfic speculation" re: Ian? Time to eat crow!

I'm sure this was covered last year, but is the rule that Norsemen speak modern English, while the English speak Old English in scenes with Vikings to get across the language difference and modern English among themselves ( as at the end with King Ecbert?) Also, could a linguist tell me how mutually intelligible Old

Yeah I said out loud "C'mon, ring-giver!"
Yes, I am a big-ass nerd.

Pizzilato said he considered Hart and Cohle to both be straight up heroes, no "anti" even necessary, but it's always possible he's yanking our chains I suppose.

Except for two episodes of this show, and Shameless two weeks ago and…

Honest question from a fan of the show (albeit one with some reservations) so be aware I'm not trying to troll: does it bother anyone else a bit that the driving force of the mystery is urban legends such as Satanic Ritual Abuse and snuff films? On the one hand, I'm interested in folklore and realism is by no means an

Remus' family has been around here a long time!

I like it when the show reminds us of a what a black hole of narcissism Frank really is, while also reminding us that he was hardly the originator of the Gallagher curse: he inherited it same as his kids.

Indeed.

He's always been hilariously wrong on Boardwalk. It was grand when he had to admit how good last season was; it was like he was spitting out complements through clenched teeth. Sean Collins gave the definitive word on him: "He will always condescend to the text in front of him if it's an option."

Thank you. All that self mythologising generational bullshit really grates.

I know what you mean, but it's complicated by the fact that Gilligan basically gave him a big blow job in the finale, which by his own admission he wanted to feel triumphant re: Walt. For all the talk about fans "watching the wrong way" BrBa never really resolved the attitude it had toward Walt, and I don't

Except the finale wanted you to root for him again, as admitted by Gilligan. It caused many people to question whether they'd been watching the show "wrongly."

Alas, no. It's never revisited as I recall. Lots of weird stuff like that on this show.

She always looks pissed off; I wouldn't read too much into it.

I found the whole "tell the president to go to marriage counseling and then use it against him" angle absurd. Why would a marriage counselor be asked about money laundering? And the medication thing? GHW Bush puked on the emperor of Japan because he was on benzos, so is a US president taking Xanax really so big a deal?

I mostly agree with you, but it's half-assed capacity for writing women is at least still much more advanced than True Detective. That show's women are so poorly drawn it's embarrassing. It also is at least as self-serious.

Yeah I'm a bit ashamed of Maddow and Hayes, but I'd probably do it too if I was them.
