“Surreal” works for me too. But as you note, it’s both broad and subjective in application. In the spirit of trying to be a little more precise, I’ll put “Dadaist” out there for consideration. Duchamp’s “Fountain” obviously, though his “Nu descendant un escalier” conveys the whole arc of this administration…
Why should anyone listen? I listen because he’s smart and funny as hell. He helps me think. There aren’t many people writing that I’d put up there with him. (There’s a columnist over at The Guardian, Marina Hyde, who’s got a beautifully vicious satirical prose, but she’s focussed on British politics.)
Which “classics” did you have in mind? I ask because you could have typed the same comment about “David Copperfield.” “Why doe this silly man waste his energies in redundant labour? It’s well known that every important moral lesson is laid out in “The Illiad.” Far better for Mr. Dickens’s squalid audience to take up…

I’m White, in a mostly Black neighborhood. A few months ago My neighbor K. confessed to me that she was the one called the police six years back, to tell them a White guy was burying a body in the vacant lot. That would have been me, digging in the garden. I told her I’d have done the same.
