Completely agree - both stella and heineken were poorly reviewed here, and I mostly agree, but I've had them both in their home countries, on tap, and really enjoyed them. There is an especially significant drop-off in the US export version of Heineken .
I've had Hill Farmstead Dorothy, and god help me - I'd rather have domestic macro brew. I mentioned this at a party the other weekend and it would have gone over better if I said I enjoy molesting farm animals.
Nothing makes me happier than discovering a beer I enjoy now comes in can form, and it's rare that I can find anyone to share in this joy with me. Good to know I'm not the only one.
When I was in highschool a friend's older brother used to bring us 30 racks of Genny Cream, Genny Ice(?), and Genny Red (??) - he called it the Trifecta, and I never found out if this was something he made up or an accepted term common from Genny drinkers. Either way, years later the only part of the Trifecta that…
Favorite Bud Bowl team: Bud Light or Budweiser?
These bottles are far and away my favorite. If you order from Nalgene directly you can get an OTF cap with a 12, 20, 24, and 32 oz. bottle. The caps come in 8 different colors and the bottles, depending on the size, come in about 10 different colors. Go nuts. You can basically customize any bottle size / top…

Anyone hear, or subscribe to, the idea that couples should have the same bedtime? I'd say most married couples I know do this, and I know my wife would like us to go to bed together (ie when she goes to bed). But we live in a tiny apartment, and those couple of hours I get to myself each night after she goes to…
Is this replace Guiness Black Lager? I actually enjoy the black lager to an extent, but it mostly makes me wish I had a warsteiner dunkel or another good german dark beer. Still, I'd be bummed if this 'blonde' ends up taking over the black lager shelf space.
Will definitely give this a shot although I'm generally not a fan of fruit flavoring in beer... unless that fruit is blueberry. Blueberry beer is delicious and it should be socially acceptable to have one with breakfast. Newport Storm in particular is a solid example.
That's really interesting - I mentioned above that I remember stella commercials in the UK with the tagline 'reassuringly expensive' - apparently they had to drop the whole campaign in 2007 because of the 'wife-beater' nickname.
I'm generally a fan of Lagers so my opinion here might be skewed, but I remember having Stella on tap in Europe years ago and it was amazing. Sounds like the style of beer might be part of your issue here as well, but would be curious to see if you would enjoy the non-export, non-green-bottled, version of Stella (or…
Wow - completely disagree on Pumple Drumkin (but I absolutely agree shipyard is the worst). I like that the 'pumpkin' flavor isn't over-powering and I think it's the least sugary / heavy of all the pumpkin beers I've tried.
Weirdest use of 'pumpkin' flavoring I've seen to date came from Polar Seltzer which had a seasonal Pumpkin Spice a couple years ago (along with Eggnog and Candy Cane).
The taplines are probably the reason most bartenders I know will always take a can or bottle over a draft beer. On the same lines, as someone whose seen what goes on at, and more importantly what crawls around in, large distribution centers; for the love of god wipe down the top of the can before you crack it open.
