That's a really good point actually. Sitcoms notoriously take a long time to find their rhythms. It makes me wish Netflix would do a 20 episode season. The best comedies of the last decade (30 Rock, Community, Parks and Rec, Happy Endings) all took at least 8-10 episodes to find themselves.
I'd be shocked if it got a second season. Critical revulsion is Netflix's kryptonite.
More good points. Hopefully they'll make a show about such sensitive subjects less rape-y, although who knows.
That makes sense. I don't know if I agree with putting restrictions of subject on creators though. If this turns out to be a sensitive, complex portrayal of race in America then I don't see an issue with how it was made. David Simon's The Wire is the greatest portrayal of racial issues in television history and he's a…
I fail to see how this is significantly different than The Man in the High Castle's premise, which is both a condemnation of the lack of creativity and a source of befuddlement for how this is an issue.
I assume we're getting a full Lana Del Rey review because if not what the hell are we doing here?
Who would be a good Jenna substitute? My first thought was Bette Midler but that would be an unpredictable choice.
American Idol was a huge part of my formative years so I'll be at least trying the new version out. I hope they wise up and realize that a harsh, no-nonsense judge is part of what made the original successful and they get someone outspoken.
That's what they all say. And then it's "Hey can I just have one Twizzler?"
Pinata harassment is not something to joke about, sir.
Not Safe was so good. I wish it had been an hour as the guests felt like afterthoughts compared to the sketches, but it was so funny.
I honestly could not care less. I don't love the way that 'they' sounds because it's so clunky in conversation, but that is the extent of my investment in the situation.
As much as I love Julie Klausner and Difficult People generally, there are certain choices the show makes where it seems like amateur hour for a hot second. The Lola character, for instance, felt ported in from a CBS sitcom and all of her lines (of which I believe there were three variations) should come with a laugh…
Oh see I thought it was a clear reference to hive mind. Hive mind, Republicans, recent election. It would fit together for me.
Logical reasoning must make you very sleepy.
The stereotype is that non-binary people dress androgenously, which is true in many cases but not mine. I have a beard and wear t-shirts and athletic shorts. I've been in drag for photo shoots and it was fun, but it's not a part of my identity.
Ru has been instrumental in helping many trans people achieve success but he uses a word you don't agree with so it's all for shit, right? I could almost guarantee you that he has done more for your rights than you ever will.
What debate? I never said I have anything against trans people, I have used all the proper pronouns and I think I've made it clear that overall I'm a trans supporter. It is possible to speak about someone specifically without it being about the entire community. I can think OJ did it without saying all black men…
I don't buy into gender. If i had heard myself say that three years ago I would have slapped me in the face for being a wanker, but I just don't. I prefer to see myself as a person removed from essentially meaningless labels. I think there are bigger fish to fry then people using "he" or "she" or "they" when talking…
