I think “evidence based” comes from academia. It means that there are peer-reviewed studies behind it. I know in education we use this term to mean “this isn’t just something we made up and will actually hurt kids.” Most of what is sold to schools isn’t evidence based, so we point out when it is....

The phrase “evidence- based” always enrages me. It is trying to take on the cloak of science and act as if its results are infallible and without prejudice or bias — when, in fact, it is definitely neither of these.
