I remember an episode of Different Strokes where this was talked about. This aired back in the early eighties if memory serves correctly. Anyway, the two boys were taking an entrance exam to get into the school that the Dad figure went to when he was younger. The boys didn’t do well and when the Dad guy looked into

That’s not a good come back. The problem isn’t difficult to grasp. We have too many gun deaths in this country. Announcing your political affiliation by discussing Chicago is a poor attempt at deflection. Obviously just announcing guns are legal or illegal isn’t going to make this problem go away. Doing nothing will

I had to explain this to my teenage son the other day. He was upset about a frivolous lawsuit that he read about on the internet. I can’t even remember what it was about, but it upset him for some reason. It led to the discussion about how uniquely litigious our country is and he demanded to know why no one fixes

Sometimes the French are just too damn French for their own good.

Only one question matters. Who’s going to play Gladys?

Love me some Acronis TrueImage.  I have the universal restore module, so I can take an image of my HDD and turn around and put it on completely different hardware with zero problems.  It is so, so awesome.

I realize it isn’t likely that you could ever go back to it, but I’ll tell you this. The game ending on it was such an emotional bomb that I sat there and stared at the screen through all the credits. I turned it off and then sat there for another 5 minutes staring at my blank screen. The story is so heartbreaking

Yikes. I foresee that some feelings will be hurt today on The Root.

Nu-metal made me realize that music wasn’t being made for me anymore and I effectively gave up on the music industry. Pathetically, I was pretty emotional about it. I actually felt a stab in the heart that good metal was dead and it was nothing but a wasteland of complete crap, but that’s just the way it was because

I am 100% for positive prison reform. Safer conditions being the absolute top priority. No one deserves to be murdered or raped. I would love to see more actual rehabilitation programs. Things that can make a positive change, educational opportunities and individual and group therapy should be immediately behind

This game and Rule of Rose are two games that pack a lot of baggage in them. They took chances on the story lines and game play that you seldom see anymore.  And the only thing that keeps you grounded in both games is the presence of a helpful, loyal canine companion.  Loved them both for what they were in spite of

Now imagine that up until a few decades ago people like you were put into institutions, murdered or simply exiled from society. Now imagine that over time that slowly changed into you and people like you being the butt of cruel jokes on the regular in the media, by comedians, etc. So much so, that it is perfectly

Okay, well one of us grew up on Republican approved text books that consistently discuss who wonderful we are (that would be you). And one of us actually knows the history of our country (that would be me). Outside of showing up fashionably late for WW2 we have very little to show when it comes to our “greatness”.

This is exactly why people who don’t live on a farm can’t understand why farmers can be assholes about not letting their children become attached to the animals. It rarely ends well.

Really? I’m willing to bet a good history book can prove that isn’t the case. I want the U.S. to be as good as we believe it can be, but we’ve pretty solidly failed up until now.  And that failure has been fairly epic at times.

Asking Madonna to pay tribute to Aretha Franklin is like asking Alex Jones to pay tribute to Barack Obama. It doesn’t make sense and whomever thought of it should be taken out back and “dealt with”.

I’d like to start a gofundme to pay people to stop cosplaying Jack Sparrow.

So, here’s the ugly thought game for the day. Was the great melting pot experiment of the U.S. a failure? You go to other places in the world and people get to see themselves in their media, culture, government, job sites, etc. Here, however, we struggle with just the basics on representation in those same areas. The

Same here. Hung around after Fireworks to see this and my daughter and I only made it about 4 or 5 minutes in and we both decided it wasn’t our thing. I may give it another go when it is available for streaming someday down the road. It definitely isn’t one I’d consider worthy of going out of my way to see.

Even as a Bengals fan, I felt horrible for Baltimore last year. That was a heart ripper. It was fun to watch the game, but jeez, even I couldn’t care less if we had actually won or not. Our season was already down the tubes. On the other hand, if the Bengals beat them then it was likely they wouldn’t have gone far in
