AV Club isn't covering the Chicago torture story that is all over the news? I guess it's not related to pop culture.

"Certainly not by white people"

Is it acceptable for people to use "black or brown people" pejoratively in a certain context? Or when referring to a certain type of black or brown person?

"Poking fun" Ok. Apparently you and I have been reading different AV Club comment sections.

Nope. Trump is proof that the GOP can no longer pass off their chosen candidate on conservative Christains. You think anyone in the GOP wanted Trump to win the nomination?

Based on a lot of comments around here, the enemy for most of the AV Club commentariat looks a very specific way. Does your point apply to those who feel that straight white males are the enemy?

But my statement was about the language he spoke in this scenario, not his race.

It is this liberal echo chamber that you hang out in here at the AV Club that validate your own biases. And if it was validation of my own opinions I was after I think it's obvious that I wouldn't look for it here.

No it's not my go to example but it's sure closer than anything I've said.

Yes, if we try to defeat our enemy they win. Flawless logic. No need to address the problem. Wouldn't want to make the bad guys angry.

Look at that. Actual racism.

That's everyone's problem here. You're so concerned with labeling everything as racist that you shut the door on an honest conversation about a real problem.

That's absurd. Just keep telling yourself that. I'm sure the west will be just fine dealing with this very real problem. We'll be just fine.

Sure, only white males can be racist.

Ok, if for the sake of argument I accept that it is racist (which I don't agree with), is it rational?

That's just not true.

I don't know. If I was in a Christmas market in Berlin right now and I heard someone speaking Arabic and then get in a big truck I would sure as hell keep an eye on that truck. I don't think that's racist. I think it's just being aware of the current state of the world right now and that there are people trying to

What if your fear is based on the fact that a person speaking that particular language is statistically more likely to make the plane explode?

So everyone who got scared in this scenario did so because they're racist?

You anticipate people will be appalled by her statements and use it to push for anti abortion policy. Is it because you could imagine the statement being appalling to some people or are you basing this on past examples of statements like this being used against abortion advocates?
