I’ve never understood why that is a problem. I loved the linear approach in Final Fantasy X. Several other RPGs take the same basic approach - Xenosaga, for one.

i wonder: has anyone else found this game to be a chore? i feel like it lost its magic really early on. struggling to circle back and finish it. 

Sounds harsh but this is probably the first time in at least a year I’ve remembered GW exists and I used to play those games quite a lot. They were always the “non-sub WoW” but they seemed to fail to grow beyond that while WoW and FFXIV have grown strength to strength.
