Watched the first two episodes last night and loved how utterly bonkers it was. It hasn’t grabbed me compulsively fresh out of the gate, but, then again, neither did Bojack. I hated Bojack for about the first 4 episodes and then it hooked me HARD.

Even if this doesn’t aim for the whole unexpected-gravitas thing, the br

No democratic society should take it’s legislative cues from persons who subscribe to any religion that instructs men to have authority over women and women to submit to that authority. It honest to god should just be a non-starter. I just don’t understand how this is not completely obvious to everyone.

The history of corporatism in America has, unfortunately, shown otherwise.

I think we’ll be better off trusting activists over corporatists given that corporatism is at the root of what lead to this mess in the first place.

Nothing Jeff Bezos does intends to benefit anyone but his own company. It is certainly argueable whether whatever benefit he has brought into this world otherwise in any way makes up for the quantity of harm he has brought.

And if we can’t take Trump down without the help of someone like Jeff Bezos then our democracy

She’ll be fine. Agitating the corrupt, bigoted, ignorant, authoritarian and proto-capitalist isn’t the career suicide a lot of people are trying to script it to be. She’s smart and she’s young....which means she only has the opportunity to get smarter and more capable.

What did she say that was harsh and inexcusable?

If someone could do something about the heavy-handed Christian film trailers that have been running in front of Sony movies all year, would appreciate that as well.

This was a fantastic article. The single sentence, “which was founded by two 28-year-old women with no prior experience in healthcare” is probably all that was needed, though.
;)

Given what we now know about how foreign governments are fomenting culture wars through online platforms as a way of destabilizing us, I’m finding it harder and harder to look at situations like this as an organic product of coordinated bigotry. I don’t think we should be so quick to jump into obvious lamentations

Yeah, I don’t think so. Fool me once....

Gita, your articles are always a breath of fresh air. Astute, observant and revealing while always striking a refreshingly personal, reflective and appreciative tone. I always feel like, even when you are talking about your own individualized experience of a video game, as someone utterly unlike me in age, race, sex/ge

Much has been said about giving John Lasseter a “second chance.” But he is presumably being paid millions of dollars to receive that second chance. How much money are the employees at Skydance being paid to GIVE him that second chance?

They are the film equivalent of your boss giving you a new title instead of a raise.

Due to health issues I’m very limited in the types of places I can grab a takeout lunch from....even most salad bars are too limiting for me to frequent; so when I first discovered Sweetgreen, I was initially ecstatic, because they had just the right combination of options that I could make a meal out of.

I’ve since

For all the commentators claiming otherwise: the issue is not with how sexist his comments may have been, it is with how irredeemably irresponsible they were given the hideous groundswell of toxicity aimed at the reboot during the entirety of it’s lifespan.

He should have fucking known better and I wanted to reach

Your article really articulates some of the feelings I’ve been having about the conversations always taking place around Sanders.  I’m glad you wrote this.

It’s the contempt for Bernie that I never get. It feels out of measure with what’s wrong with him. I feel like we’re playing into the enemy’s hands when we’re so

Given that we have yet to see a vocal following occur around someone who didn’t deserve it, who wasn’t exhibiting a consistent pattern of abusing his status, power or position in order to sexually intimidate/harass/manipulate/assault women, I don’t think it’s necessary (and, at worse, harmful) to manufacture concern

For the record, testimony *is* evidence.

This is not “he said/she said”. This is “he said/she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, someone else who saw, that guy over there who knows him, those people, she, she and she said.”
