"…which Patterson co-wrote…"
Suuuuure.

Bookshots - because "novella" just wasn't manly enough.

Forget Leo's overdue Oscar - the fact that John Goodman hasn't even been nominated for one is the real travesty.

Considering how down I was on her as an actress in her early Pirates days, I'm delighted to see how she's progressed over the past few years. Her choices are interesting and her natural charisma shines through.

The guy did Basic Instinct 2 - his eye for movie scripts is… Spotty, at best. But we'll always have Hannibal.

He's also a recent addition to my "actors I'd like to get drunk with" list, partly due to his Vanity Fair interview and glorious choice of Van Gogh socks.

There was a period in my somewhat misbegotten adolescence where I owned every movie he'd ever done, including a copy of Spacecamp my mum taped for me.

One of my all time favourite films.

Brittany had really strong moments of intellect. She could memorise Shakespearean monologues and had great strategic skill in the paintballing episode.

I always loved Helen. One of the reasons I never warmed to Tom as a character was because they set him up as a foil to Daria in a way that seemed too neat, but Daria always had the ideal foil in her mother, who was occasionally too distracted by work to notice issues but always worked hard to be there and could bring

True but I think there's been an increase in actors & studios using any vague attempt at Method as bragging rights for awards & PR, as if that holds higher precedence than the performance itself (Leo in The Revenant comes to mind; same with Ben Foster & the Lance Armstrong film).

I hear his close friend Terry Richardson is a big fan of that.

Kudos to David Oyelowo for having a hot streak of four consecutive films directed by women to his name, and that doesn't even include his collaborations with Ava Duvernay. Incredibly rare to see a major actor with his kind of clout deliberately seeking out projects with female directors.

Many Oscar wins baffle me, but his will always rub me the wrong way.

I firmly believe "method acting" has become the new Hollywood excuse for "being a dick". It's just a way to treat others around you like dirt and be rewarded for it - much like the entire Hollywood ecosystem, I guess.

Maybe to go method for this, he can spend time with musicians with some real talent.

I'm mostly exhausted by his constant "oooh are you offended by my edgy jokes" nonsense, when his act has less edges than a sphere.

He's also changed the late night landscape in a way that can't be ignored - everything's about 'viral moments' now and it's not only exhausting, it's dull.

Fallon will be drunkest of all.

I think that's an Oscar win that will age badly, especially with trans representation in film gaining traction and a (much justified) backlash to cis actors dragging up for Oscar bait.
