Their clear love & respect for one another is one of the reasons I'm hyped for The BFG, even though the trailer just felt a little too clean and polished for my liking. He's such spot on casting for that role.

Which is great because Rylance is one of the best actors we have (forever sad I never saw him in Jerusalem, one of my favourite plays), but if he chose to focus more on films, the opportunities would be there. He's doing The BFG & the system is basically made to make Oscar bait for actors like him. Black actresses…
True, but a lot of people were very quick to jump to criticising her in the vein of the "angry black woman" trope that wasn't exactly subtle. Look at any number of straight white dudes in the industry who talk about the whole thing being BS and still get lauded for it.
Very excited to see Weiner (steady now). The 2013 Mayoral campaign brought about some interesting work. The NYT documentary short on Christine Quinn's run is a little spotty and I question some of the choices made (why focus so much on a weird animal rights group?) but offers a sharp insight into a career downfall.

It's an interesting piece & offers a nice contrast to the usual way of navigating through the entire Oscars process, but I think it's also worth mentioning that Mo'Nique very publicly didn't campaign for Precious, insisting the work speak for itself, and she won. She was also punished pretty hard for her refusal to…
The latest How Did This Get Made on The Apple was hilarious, even more so for Paul being stuck in the June role of not getting the film's subtle-as-a-brick Adam & Eve parallels.
I think the writers definitely got ahead of themselves, which is a shame because I was so gripped throughout the season. I'm still here for season 2 but the show at least has to acknowledge that Alex is a terrible journalist when it gets there.
I'm really enjoying both podcasts so far. Both are impeccably produced, although also prone to actor-y moments with certain line readings. Limetown has moments of real pathos and tension (the most recent episode in particular hits some surprising emotional notes) but I often feel as though it's withholding information…
As annoyed as I am by Black Tapes Podcast ending on a cliffhanger, I still heartily enjoyed the season. It's a bit actor-y at times with the cast, but the writing and general atmosphere were top notch. I marathoned the first 10 episodes in one day and didn't sleep that night. The new podcast by Pacific Northwest…
I saw the film at the Edinburgh Film Festival and generally agree with this review. It's not Berg's strongest but it does continue her stellar work of highlighting abuses of power in massive, seemingly impenetrable institutions.
The tracking shot on the growing nose is going to be impeccably shot.
Excellent choice. I saw it last Summer in Edinburgh and had a brilliant time. All musicals should come with a splash zone.
