The main two sources of income for nonprofits are: 1) Government Grants (this represents the State/Fed/Local govts giving grants to get nonprofits to do the things that the govt does in many other countries) 2) Fee for Service (payments from the people receiving the services, often on a sliding scale). I’m not saying

Am a boomer, though not a UK boomer. We suck. Tis true.

I’d like to say something mean about Melania, but my legal team sucks. So, I’m going to go with this:

I go with $20. But I realize that I’m super old and $20 isn’t much. I also keep about $100 in twenties in my house. Just in case. Maybe I should up that, too?

I did very well for three weeks. But then...that fourth week. I ordered a new pair of winter boots to replace my falling apart boots. I bought a book. I took my extended family out to breakfast. Meh. That last week. Grrr.

I think you’re kidding? Because poor is not selling your work for a wage. At least not always. I mean, I sell my labor for a wage. And I am not poor. Haven’t been poor at any time. There were times when I ate pea soup for two weeks because there was an expense. But I always had a bed to sleep in. I always had food,

I used to work for a Women’s Agency in Chicago. Our board was all women. And the women we served? 97% lived below the poverty level. We provided different services (including psychological counseling, housing, employment assistance, and emergency assistance). Anyway, one day we’re talking about the need for our board

I think a lot of white people assume you can’t be a racist unless you are dropping the n-word and burning a cross. I mean, seriously. That’s what they think. As long as you don’t drop the n-word (unless you’re rapping along with the radio, naturally), then you’re good. After all, if you say things about black or brown

I remember a radical Christian explaining to me that Catholics are not Christian, by definition. She was a grown woman who lived on my block and was my friend’s Mom, and came at me with this when she heard my family was Catholic. Like, she was explaining to me how I was probably going to hell. I was 8, but happy to

Yup. She just took a wrong turn there.

I am following her now.

Thank you.

A hundred billionty dollars, I hear. That’s what people are saying.

Yeah, because we know those reservations were at Trump’s hotel.

Women are where they are because of those that have gone before. Brave and wonderful women will always push against the boundaries. I’m hoping in 60 years, some woman on whatever the media is then will be griping about how AOC played it safe. Because I’m hoping by then women will be so far removed (in a good way) from

Ryan was elected in 1998, I believe. Members of congress serve two year terms—so that is ten terms. A lot of terms. And he served as speaker for four years. And was the vice presidential nominee.

Mine takes ATM/debit cards but not credit cards.

This article seems timely from where I sit.

I get served faster in the US. Anytime I walk up to the bar (especially after a game or during the holidays) and get my second drink fast someone is always grousing “I’ve been standing here.” It’s a good indication of who is a bad tipper. I don’t want bad tippers in my life. So it’s a win/win. Fast service. Hidden

Bartenders in the US usually make minimum or better. I still tip. The bartender is bringing me delicious alcohol. Tipping gets me faster service, better service and (if I’m drinking mixed) better drinks. Always tip the bartender is the advice I learned at Grandpa’s knee. Not really, but he always tipped.
