I saw him give a talk recently, and he was talking about his relationship with fiction versus non-fiction, and it seemed like he was getting tired of non-fiction mostly because the people who he interviewed or referenced never said what he wanted them to say. And he followed by saying fiction was satisfying because

It's strange to me that a lot of people see Borders as the big, nice bookstore and Barnes and Noble as the big evil. Borders always seemed sort of relentless, and even though my whole family was excited when it opened, the novelty wore off quickly and we went back to shopping at Barnes and Noble, which is still open

if this movie is a giant commercial for wilson phillips, it worked.
