Well my family from Shanghai told us not to tip anyone when we were visiting because it's a huge insult. My sister-in-law forgot about that and when she tried tipping after a hair cut they were mortified.

Personally I disagree with the concept of tipping in general. But at the same time I understand why it's done, and I'm with you on the 18% mark. 20% tip if the service was excellent. 10% if the service was there, but really bad.

Exactly this. Colognes and perfumes were invented for the purpose of masking smells back when showers weren't exactly available. I'm extremely allergic to perfumes and colognes. I also have no sense of smell for the same underlying reason. So I can't tell when some jerk is wearing way too much until it's way too late.

No such luck for Canadians. No more pennies.
