As a counterpoint: as a kid I used to travel from London to Glasgow a few times a year to see my Uncles and Aunts. We either drove (min. 8 hours), a horrible, boring journey with me throwing up every few hours, or we took the train - 5 hours where I got to watch England zip by, each cheeseburgers and read my comics.
