It’s not that far from us. It’s only between 2.5 and 2.9 AU, that’s closer than any of Jupiter’s moons and about as far as Mars is from earth at aphelion. I’m in my early 30’s, and with the space race heating back up, I’m sure we’ll get back there in my lifetime.

Sure, it only takes seven welds, but good luck finding that little hexagonal key that you need to put it all together. And if I’m not mistaken, the instruction sheet says there should be fourteen of those pieces, but I only see eleven. Goddammit. You’d think by now I’d know not to buy spaceships from IKEA ...

They get like a 5% improvement in fuel economy with those.

One might ask the same about birds. What are birds? We just don’t know.

if this man doesnt either have an eyepatch or walk around with a cigar in his mouth, I’d be completely shocked.

I think it’s very cool (and telling) that the intelligence guys can find random buildings so quickly - think about that - they have a side shot or two of one or more buildings and geo-locate them in less than a day - out of probably hundreds of thousands of buildings (assumes no GPS data in the image itself)

I feel like this photo could use some context.
