The ability to waste food AND energy at the same time.
Yeah, I ran wiring before at a previous residence, which worked out pretty well. The cable came in on the second floor and all the rooms that needed to be wired were upstairs, so I was able to run cabling through the attic and bring it down through the closets. Unfortunately, the house I live in now is a split-level…
That may be the ONLY downside, but it often can be a huge, show-stopping downside. Depending on the home, running wire can require contractor work, and renters may not be allowed to modify a home as needed. As an example, if I wanted to run wire upstairs, I’d have to either drill through multiple walls and the…
Given that the energy delivered by a 50-pound block impacting at 75mph approaches that of a .50BMG rifle bullet, armored glass capable of withstanding that impact would need to be nearly three inches thick, and the windshield would weigh about 500 pounds according to data from one manufacturer. Or to put it another…
You bring up an interesting point that prompts a related thought: Should that list change depending on which state the person is from? I mean, I wouldn’t shed a tear if some members of the voting public never left their home states, for instance.
It reminds me of Inside.
Yeah, that’s why I mentioned the original release six years ago and the retail release three years ago. Though the retail version isn’t exactly the same title as the free version. The retail version is the one that’s getting various improvements due to full access to the engine source code, and will also include Xen…
Look again. I see one just above my post. ;)
When’s the last time you played Black Mesa? I haven’t played it since back when it was just a free mod, but from what I’ve seen in development updates, the developers have been creating improved assets for the retail version. It seems reasonably likely that the Black Mesa portion of the retail version will have…
Considering Black Mesa (minus the Xen part) launched six years ago, it’s a bit too late for that. Not only that, but five years ago Valve gave the developers permission to sell Black Mesa on Steam, as well as officially giving the developers full source-code access to the Source engine. Black Mesa launched as a retail…
Personally, I like the fact that they’re working to retake the word. Why should words like “queer” maintain some sort of hateful sanctity for the benefit of the intolerant? Take those words away from them, rob those word of their power, so the intolerant can’t use them as convenient labels with which to demean people.…
Definitely. I was so impressed with the original mod version that I bought Black Mesa immediately when it went up for sale. Even if they were to never release Xen, I thought the mod version was easily worth the $20. Having the Black Mesa part effectively remastered along with the release of Xen is just the icing on…
Wow, you sure bet on the wrong horse. Not only did Valve give the developers permission to SELL the game on Steam, they even made a deal to license the Source engine to the developers. Black Mesa is as legitimate a fan project as one can get.
Lol, I did too.
Even some legitimate charities can be quite questionable. When I used to work retail, I once had the opportunity to assist with a charity that was buying shoes for needy children. The whole project was ineptly executed. Understandably, they couldn’t bring all the kids to the store to have them fitted for shoes, so…
But why would you want to deny a job to a violent criminal like that when you should be denying them freedom instead? If you have to put severe restrictions on a felon’s job prospects, then maybe they shouldn’t have been released from prison in the first place. I mean, how could denying Lance Mason a particular job…
The problem I see with your argument is that you’re trying to stick a band-aid on a much bigger problem. If you can’t trust the person with most normal jobs, then why let them out of prison in the first place? I mean, which would you rather have?
The issue I see with your argument is you’re describing a situation I don’t think should exist in the first place. If the person is enough of a risk that they can’t be trusted working with/for the public, then they shouldn’t have been released in the first place. Legitimately dangerous criminals need to stay locked…
But the only way to avoid passing people who are stuck in ditches is to stop the car entirely. I can creep along so slowly that it doesn’t register on the speedometer and still pass a car stuck in a ditch.
Correction: You kissed him with your eyes open. Otherwise, how would you know? ;)
