Instead of destroying all product, if an entity wants to take the tax write off, then the entity should have to put all of the product into the public domain, and be be prohibited from making commercial use of it themselves.

We are witnessing the beginning of a legendary lost film ,apparently so bad you can’t see it
Sure, people got paid but there’s also a lot of things like residuals based on performance that will never get paid. You’re also looking at a lot of concept artists or VFX folks that still put a lot of time and love into this and will never be able to see it come to fruition, or even use any of the work they used to…
I mostly agree, except I think it’s pretty standard for film people to get something from the film to use as promo material for their highlight reels or CVs going forward. Yes, they got paid, but they have nothing to show for the actual work that they put into it, which could be the bigger disappointment.
Texas’ 2nd Court of Appeals found that the voice actor didn’t have enough evidence to prove that the allegations against him were false, or made with any malice.
Yeah, I’m a lot more anti-media-piracy than a lot of people on this site (for a variety of reasons that aren’t relevant right now), but even I’m going to outright state that, if there’s no legal way for you to legitimately get a piece of media, there’s nothing wrong with pirating it.
I notice it says that Vic was at Anime Matsuri, what it doesn’t mention is that he’s one of the owners of that show. So he basically put himself on the guest list.
I was wondering why I was seeing so many of the HBO Max shows, including all 4 seasons of Infinity Train, show up on torrent sites the last few days.
To be clear, his fans still regularly harass anyone who says anything bad about Vic Mignogna who is colloquially known as the R. Kelly of Anime. And it doesn’t help he sent out an email after the decision to his fans framing it as “they didn’t win, they denied me my rights” which has only fueled things further.
By the way, for those who don’t know:
Voice Actor Vic Mignogna Loses Appeal Case, May Have to Pay More Legal Fees
Discovery is going to strip WB for parts in order to pay off their debt and they are going to do it in the worst way possible. Make money from cartoons? Please, they don’t know how to do that. If they did, they wouldn’t be removing anything from HBO Max, but adding stuff to it.
I’m going to answer this, because honestly I think io9 over the years has become accustomed to an old business model and consequently I think their style of coverage is partially responsible. Flat out, this cycle of business resembles the cable consolidation of the 90's and 00's wherin genre, cartoons, etc. were…
They’re throwing away completed movies, entire swaths of the WB catalog and generally making the service as unappealing as they possible can because content isn’t making up the debt. Shitty accounting laws, tax write offs and shedding employees they don’t need anymore to make one platform as opposed to two is how…
You know, when Nintendo’s WiiU was a flop and the company’s stock value dropped, Miyamoto and many of the board took a salary cut (Miyamoto’s was 50% iirc) to keep the company going without laying people off or doing of the bullshit WBD is doing. If Zaslak wasn’t a shortsighted capitalistic [censored] [censored]…
And yet he hasn’t reduced his $246 million salary by a single penny. I’ll believe he’s taking this debt seriously when he starts slashing that.
Time to post this again.
The Enterprise-D has never been one of my favorites, but if they made a version of that advent calendar with the Kirk-era movie Enterprise, I’d be all for one of these. Or better yet, a Millennium Falcon.
we try really hard not to let anything of the bad just to protect your experience of seeing it for the first time
I agree only because Leia was consistently one of the better parts of a show that was filled with amateur hour writing. I really hope we see her actress in Starwars (or in general) more often. That said, let’s not pretend that a show about Luke messing around with Biggs and constantly nearly dying only for Obi Wan to…
