I don’t know why you wrote this whole column and then lightly brushed over the important part.

My brain is short-circuiting over half of the article’s premise, that The Force Awakens is somehow a ‘remix of essential American myths’. I cannot see how it can be described in any way essential, a myth, or even American.

There’s something ironic about using Hamilton to say “Immigrants: we get the job done”, since the actual Hamilton certainly didn’t consider himself as such and instead blamed immigrants for Jefferson winning the election. It was the Federalists who passed the Alien and Sedition Acts against their Jeffersonian
