I think the cane was Churchill related (bulldog + the voice + John telling the story of the time he met Churchill's ghost), but I don't remember anything from the comics. It might be a Legends special.

Wendy’s changed their hot chili seasoning around the same time. That stuff used to be really good on their burger but now it has this horrible artificial or metallic taste. It’s hard to describe and even harder to eat.

Whataburger, too, has elevated the skinny fry far beyond what McDonald’s does with it.
