They knew where to find this guy, they could’ve picked him up later.

My point is that whenever a black person is killed by police, like in the Garner case, you have people commenting that he would have been alive if he had just complied with police orders. I don’t see any of those comments here, and the only distinguishing factor I can see is the color of the victim.

Come on now, it says right there in the article:

I mean objectively that’s true, if he hadn’t run he probably would be alive. But like in this case and really in any case, that fact isn’t important. Despite what the prosecutor decided, they weren’t justified in killing him over a suspended license. They knew where to find this guy, they could’ve picked him up later.

Where are the folks who usually defend shit like this with “If he had not tried to get away, he’d be alive!”

“We are not going to tolerate people coming into this county and running over our citizens and our officers, and we will deal with them severely.”

Bringing suit is important, but the government should be trying these assholes for murder.

As an ER-Trauma nurse in the USA, I can weigh in on how to survive our healthcare system:

Just be rich. It’s that simple. Really! Just have a couple extra million to dispense at-will.

Oh, you don’t have that? Well, you’re likely just freeloading, anyway.

/sarcasm, but it is the sad truth regarding the state of affairs

You got lucky I was in for 7 days no insurance someone came in and signed me up I was homeless at the time low income lost 30 pounds a year later in diapers still waiting to see a doctor this is trumps america

One thing that’s worth noting is that, even with basic insurance coverage, the cost of a lot of ‘non-necessary’ care is so punitive that it acts as a major deterrent. At my last job, I had a catastrophic plan with a deductible somewhere in the $7k range. I’m in mid-20s, so unless faced with an actual catastrophe,

Pre ACA I had an allergic reaction to gabapentin. I was already recovering and paying out of pocket for a rather severe bout of facial shingles. I had borrowed $200 to pay for the script and it darned near killed me! Now this ER doctor wanted to admit me and couldn’t understand why I was adamantly refusing to be

I work as an intensivist and recently has a similar case of toxic shock syndrome in a young person that we were able to save. Unfortunately, as I came off work to a few days off, I checked in to see that from the group of two doctors (me and another service) that were managing that patient through her worst, the list

REAL LIFE IN AMERICA: it costs twice as much to go to the hospital it you are uninsured because the insurance companies “negotiate” prices that as an individual you do not have the power to do. If you or your child gets sick when you are broke, your only choice is to go to the ER. I have been charged $1500 a few times

Glad to have you still with us. This is epic, well conceived and well done. Been there and done that recently and I am right with you all the way. Still embroiled with exchange plan denials and billing office quirks, but that’s the price of avoiding bankruptcy. Of course, it would be difficult to pursue if I had a

I found myself nodding along to many of the author’s statements. When I had an arterial blockage, someone from patient accounts called my hospital room and demanded I pay them $400 by the close of business that day. My credit is shot due to thousands of dollars in medical bills I could not afford. Between 2011 and

Here’s a word cloud made out of “Gummo.” I mean...whatever the criminal charges, I would not want my kid listening to that.

I found out last week that my daughter listened to him...I had to tell her what a piece of shit he was.

I want to break a bunch of laws and get sentenced to getting my second Ph.D.

It can’t be normal to hold off on punishment because someone hasn’t finished high school; heck, it’s not even abnormal to try high school students as adults.
