That was the old Roe standard. Planned Parenthood v. Casey abolished that for the “undue burden” standard, which can apply to any trimester unfortunately. It’s how we ended up with a lot of bills clearly designed to attack women’s ability to get an abortion in any trimester using nonsense about third-trimester…

The law is that you can get an abortion in the first two trimesters (third only for extreme health cases). No explanation to the government is or should be required.
