Somehow my comment from yesterday got lost, but I saw this story on another site and the cashier wasn’t white, she appears to be of Native American descent. It’s really a shame because one would think that she would know better and do better.

That’s the first thing I thought. And, instead of grabbing the child and pinnng him down, the cop could have embraced and hugged the child when he lunged at him and talked softly to him to calm him. But then that would require the cop to view the black boy as a child who needed comforting instead of as a threat. 

I’m a little surprised that her book is coming out so soon. It’s only been 7 months since she was fired. I suspect this was her end game all along and she was already writing while she was still employed.

It warms my heart to see people going to bat like this for a black woman. It also saddens me that it’s so uncommon that I felt the need to point it out.
