Seems like a good list. I’m somewhat surprised to find ”Spiritfarer” and “Paper Mario” on it, since both games didn’t get much coverage on Kotaku (or I simply missed it).

That’s kind of on brand for Doom.  Reclusive and mysterious to the very end.

the guy was a a very private person - with a reputation for sending stand-ins to perform in his name - in a year in which performers were not performing. he wore his mask in interviews.

Yes, yes it can. Just because you don’t care doesn’t mean others don’t. Don’t be so dense.

Doom was a mystery, in life and death.

There’s just no two ways about it, he was one of the best ever. I remember goin to see him at Rock The Bells 2006 and even though it was for sure an imposter it didn’t dissuade how much I loved him.

If you’re under six foot 2, don’t have a dick longer than 9 inches, earn less than 200k a year and can’t run a mile in under 15 just stop. You’re not a man. So I hope you fit all those criteria like I do otherwise; stop calling yourself a “man”.

Wow what a pile of shit this thread is!

FYI, leadership didn’t make that decision in isolation.

That’s cool, I tried to be as moderate and inoffensive as possible, just trying to clear up miscommunication...but if you want to get bent out of shape and feel the need to be shitty to someone to make yourself feel better after a bad day, have at it, hope it helps you sleep well.

Sorry, it doesn’t, though. You may have meant “published” as opposed to “produced”, but they’re very different things. Even then, though, it’s still incorrect, as CDPR has always self published. It’s a rather important distinction to make.

Incorrect, Warners distributed it stateside as they did for The Witcher 3, they had nothing to do with development or production.

No Man’s sky was nothing like this. That was people (rightly and wrongly) feeling like the game was missing things they thought would be in it. Sony’s certification isn’t responsible for making sure people like the game.

“Are games measured in technical polish only?” No, but this game doesn’t exist in a world where it’s the only game available. You can point to many PS4/XBone games that came out in very recent memory that have fantastic worlds and writing that aren’t broken as hell. They didn’t meet the bar that’s been set.

Now that’s a really good question, and one I’ve been wondering about. Speculation was that Sony gave CDPR the benefit of the doubt that they would get the bugs fixed in time for release.

To be fair, neither Bethesda nor Activision dumped the problem in Sony’s lap with a, “Oh you can get a refund if you talk to Sony.”

Wait, hang on, did Sony not check with Kotaku commenters first before making this choice? Because I saw some the other day who were insisting it was actually PS4 consumers’ faults for not knowing the game would be busted—Sony could have saved a lot of embarrassment if they’d referred here first.

I think the big driver is CDPR basically admitting they withheld console versions for review because they knew it was bad and told everyone to get refunds, and THEN said oh lol no we meant ask sony and microsoft. I bet that pissed off Sony and this is their response. If CDPR is going to get them flooded with refund

Tell us again how crunch makes everything better, gang.

Wow. That’s pretty shocking. I can’t remember a big game ever being pulled from the store. Crazy.
