Damn. You’re right about kids not being able to stay kids! Even if they DID stay in hypersleep for 13 years, the kids, if their minds were active in The Matrix, would be experientially older. They wouldn’t ACT like kids when they got out. The little Asian girl who comes off as 7 or 8 would be acting like a 20 year old!

THANK YOU!!!!  Damn I was wondering why he sounded so familiar!  I just played that thru the lockdown.

Yep. T’is. In fact, t’is two on the Left Coast. The Big Easy is close to the Gulf of Mexico. Chi-town is on Lake Michigan. Big Apple’s on the Right Coast. Gay Paree’s in France. Barna’s on the Mediterranean. H-Town’s in Texas. Carta’s in Colombia.  So’s Medi.  Local nicknames.  I gots a million of ‘em

Not at all. It’s just something that never crossed your mind. There are plenty of regional accents in Canada. Just like in the US, or even the UK, where you can encounter a different accent just in the neighbouring town. I would say most are not incredibly far apart from each other here. However the Newfie, or as

Read it. It’s unfortunate that you don’t like Van people calling Van, Van. Because they do. Just like Toronto folks call T.O., T.O. Anyway. It’s neither here nor there. Just something to feel elitist about. My wife is from here.  She just told me it’s a thing that old people worry about...and neither of us are spring

Locals call our city “Van” all the time.  Been here 30 year.  Heard it many times. I have heard, but never experienced, that San Francisco locals can get pissy about “Frisco”, but I don’t know why they would. On the other hand, I come from Toronto, and hate it when people do what they think is a Toronto native accent

Surrey is in England, Calgary is in Scotland, Memphis is in Ancient Egypt.  Van is a perfectly suitable nickname for the major city on the left coast of Canada.

Ok.  The Couve, then

The show is shooting here ,in Van. It’s much cheaper to shoot out of the downtown studio zone. Just too many permits and restrictions. It’s easier to shoot out in the suburbs, where all the newer studios seems to be moving. That’s why it’s Smallville instead of Metropolis.  There’s a fancy modern library complex in

Good call.  I’ve had a digital copy in my possession for ten years.  Could never bring myself to see it again.  Deleted it a few days ago.

I don’t know if it was said in the verdammt, thrice cursed, irritating slideshow.....

I don’t know if I just never noticed it before, but at least now you can bypass the slideshow and go to the comments.  To be clear, AVClub, I hate the slideshows and would like to not have them.

Empty studio is the way to go.  This also puts an end to the dead horse of “audience questions” in the opening monologue.

Don’t feel bad.  You’re just going to the wrong carts....brah.

It’s obviously the big external threat, and tied to the sudden mystery of the planet....That was not mysterious for 12 years. But the show seems to want to slow walk it and make it the Smoke Monster.  The ragman is kid sized, so it’s either an ewok or a kid, thinks me.

I think it was because the show basically blew it off as well. The trap that hit the redshirt’s eye was a giant obvious rope at eye height that ONLY a person wearing a blinding helmet would miss.  Then everybody on the show shrugs and takes a nap.  Weird.  Strange beats on this show.

I stand with you here. I came into BCS with my tastebuds set for BB, and so didn’t really dig it in S1. Then I really got into it for two seasons. Then, three eps into this season I was fast forwarding through half of it to get to anything that wasn’t Jimmy and Seehorn NOT saying what they thought to each other. I

Who would one put up for an acting award on The Mandalorian? Carl Weathers? Gina Carano? Cuz Mando is basically a faceless voice actor who does his VO as if he were narrating Blade Runner, and Nick Nolte was a puppet. This is not to say that I think Pascal and Nolte are bad actors. They just don’t feature. Esposito

I agree that 12 embryos ain’t gonna cut it for a new civilization, unless bio engineered a bit. But Elder Campion is working in a blown out city, with limited resources and was doing his best. I guess it was better than nothing.  I guess the plan was to stagger the births for some reason?

I have the same problem you are having.  If I apply too much thought to the events, I start to dislike the show.  I’m like the lander you mention, teetering over the hole. (If you mean the OTHER lander, in fairness, they didn’t have that until the Mithraics showed up, 12 years after Our Gang got there.)  Father seems
