I think Sega is shackled to Boom for at least the immediate future—they've got another Boom game in the pipe, and a second season of the cartoon has already been greenlit. Which I'm half sad about, since the games are lousy, but half excited about, since I actually genuinely enjoy the show.

I think we're pretty likely to see Sony roll Kojima out, if not to announce what he's working on for them, then at least to just rub his freedom in Konami's face. I'd love the former, but I'd settle for the latter.

The plan right now is to do official Gameological live chats of the Microsoft and Sony pressers on Monday.

A February 2017 release date for P5 works pretty much perfectly for me. That'll be a great game for sustaining me through the Q1 post-Christmas deadzone. Plus it's far enough removed from FFXV that I won't be called upon to divide my attention between the two. My only concern now is that it'll come out in too close

Have you read any of the leaks to come out about the project? They are, depending on how this plays out, either extremely heartening or worrying. It sounds like they've found a really interesting, morally complicated approach for the game's story… but there was no indication from the leak that they really recognize

Depending on what exactly you're looking for out of a new Chrono game, the upcoming I Am Setsuna might scratch a few of those itches. It hasn't got any time travel, as far as I know, and its overall tone seems a little more portentous than the happy-go-lucky Chrono Trigger, but it's going to be a deliberately old

I was never really ambitious or clever enough to get into imports and rare releases, but during my youth I tried out a couple of untranslated ROMs.

Ah, yeah, that takes me back. In the early game when hunts would take me a dozen or more attempts, I saw a lot of loading screens. At one point, to further increase the stakes for myself, I was going to try a "no manual saves" run, but in the end I decided that would have been more of a waste of time than an increase

I think it would have really benefitted from more "oh shit" monsters sprinkled in here and there. At one point in the midgame my last time through I was cleaning up sidequests in Velen and ran into a cockatrice nearly double my level, with the little skull emblem indicating that fighting it would be certain death. But

Male: Peter Capaldi's affectionate Glaswegian sneering.
Female: Evanna Lynch's gossamer-gentle Irish lilting.

I'm going to be at an interesting place with my game intake for the next… year. The delay of No Man's Sky was a bummer, since I was planning on playing that through the summer until Final Fantasy XV came out, then switching to that, but now who knows. It's left me with a sizeable gap in my gaming schedule for the next

In an earlier draft of this piece I included a lengthy diversion about spirit photography and the cultural link between ghosts and photographs, but I'm glad now that I cut it because you honestly said it way better than I was trying to.

I won't rest until this whole site is The Life Is Strangeological Society.

Anybody interested in amateur game cinematography, instead of or in addition to photography, would also be well advised to check out the Youtube series Other Places.

No Man's Sky getting pushed back is a bummer for me if it's true. The back end of this year is already so packed with other games, chief among them Final Fantasy XV, so NMS getting pushed back is going to make that fourth quarter even more crowded. I was supposed to have all summer to gallivant through space before

Please direct any admiration for the correct usage of obscure grammatical tenses at Gameological editor Matt Gerardi, I assure you I have done nothing to earn it.

I'm hoping to see everybody be a little bit better put together after the lashing I gave them all last year.

Would anybody on this Earth be surprised to learn my choice is Ashly Burch as Chloe in Life Is Strange? Followed shortly thereafter by pretty much everyone else in that game, with particular attention payed to Hannah Telle as Max and DayeAnne Hutton as Kate.

I'd be willing to bet that more than a few Suikoden II runners got into running that game after trying the Clive sidequest. It's probably great practice for things like pathing, routing, making crack character builds, learning to menu quickly, figuring out exactly which chests to open, shops to patronize, hidden items

Someone said Life Is Strange so I'm just here to remind everyone that I'm still fucked up over that game. Goin' on almost six months now! The old Pat is dead!
