Man, I'm conflicted about this game in about a million directions.
Man, I'm conflicted about this game in about a million directions.
Awwww, thanks man, that's really kind of you to say.
Greetings one and all, and welcome back to the Big Finish Doctor Who Audio Drama Guided Tour. Apologies for my absence last week, for anybody who regularly keeps track of these little things, real life managed to intervene. In any case, this week we're going to be covering:
I agree with you re: the ninja. It was a really useful class in the demo, and I can see how a class with naturally high speed could be useful for sneaking in other moves before proper combat really starts (Ninja/Time Mage to get Hastega/Veilga recasts off quickly, Ninja/Performer to get buffs off at the start of a…
Related to this: shows in which characters dress like they're going on a first date when they're just sitting around their apartments. Does anybody in the real world wear shoes when they're inside their own homes? Do these characters just take them off before they go to bed or something?
A dramatized, spoilery summary of my Bravely Default progress so far:
I really enjoyed seeing Dig Rat's "redemption" at Pokemon Tower, once it became clear that Dig was one of the only attacks they had that could hit ghost types. He went from being a liability to being the team's shining beacon of hope, at least until The Keeper was introduced to the team.
If you're interested, I'm planning on doing something similar myself later this year. I've already got my next several articles lined up, but once I've finished those I want to do a series about TPP.
I think this is a good explanation for why watching the stream was so exciting, even when the hivemind spent hours or days doing nothing. I first started watching right around the first attempt to climb Pokemon Tower in Lavender Town, a feat that famously took 22 hours or something ludicrous, and I was drifting in and…
"I wanted to stand up and cheer. Or at least give him a Big Hug Mug."
#TrueDetectiveSeason2 Wishlist Thread
I'm a sucker for new towns. In games where every town has a distinct personality and its own visual style and background music, I'm always tickled when I get to see the next one. A lot of people consider dungeons and looting to be the raison d'etre of RPGs and adventure games, but I like the milestone of reaching a…
I'm really glad the discussion of game length in relation to game value is coming back, because the time I spend gaming is one of the most pronounced changes I've noticed in my gaming habits as I've gotten older. I used to love nothing more than settling in to a 60+ hour JRPG, but that was back when I could spend all…
Matthew McConaughey is up for Best Male Performance but not Best Shirtless Performance? Man, he really has turned his career around.
I don't play any real MMOs, but fictional depictions of MMOs as basically flawless virtual realities really tickle my fancy. The .hack series, fucking incomprehensible though it may be, depicts basically the perfect "MMO indistinguishable from reality" trope, and the central game would probably be a lot of fun to…
You raise a good point about Conrad Westmaas being a little difficult to pick out here. I had to go back and re-listen to a few scenes to make sure I was hearing who I thought I was hearing. It made it doubly difficult considering on the Big Finish site nobody is credited with the name(s) of their character(s), so it…
Agreed completely, but if you're ever in the mood I'd love to hear your thoughts in more detail.
Salutations compadres and welcome back to the Big Finish Doctor Who Audio Drama Experience. This week on the menu:
There's a lot to be said about Minuet in Hell, all of it bad, but that up there is basically all that needs to be said about it.
Oh man, team Ranger represent. I mentioned last week that at first I thought a bow using class would be a liability in combat, but they're so insanely good. It also helps puncture the melodrama somewhat to have one or more characters wearing what is essentially a fursuit in cutscenes.
