358/2 Days is a game that takes place over the course of 358 days, so that part makes sense. The /2 part I have frankly never understood. Are you supposed to divide 358 by 2? 179? I don't know. I actually played the game from start to finish and never made complete sense of the title, never mind the content of the

So, after accidentally taking a four month hiatus, I've finally published another Game Theory. Rather than focusing on a single game, this time I've gone with a bit of a broader topic. Really more of a thought experiment than an in-depth critical essay in my usual mold. But, fear not, I've got another massive

Good call with the collectibles and achievements, I feel the same way. I normally don't really consider myself susceptible to achievement hunting, but I've occasionally been sidetracked by tchotchke hunting. The one that really sticks out in my mind as turning from a fun Easter Egg hunt to a slog is Arkham City's

(Fucking Disqus ate my comment! Let's try this once more:)

I can't see into the future or anything, but it's looking increasingly likely that I'm going to be playing Bravely Default. I still (still!) haven't finished the demo (I've managed to finally get the merchant to sell some decent equipment, but now I need so much money!), but once I've finally got that sorted I'll be

Aaaah, quite interesting. I think I've missed my window of opportunity for this one, but thanks for the tip.

Exploit to get free villagers you say?

See also: Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. You can stare at that title for as long as you like, but you will never, ever naturally deduce that it's supposed to be pronounced "three five eight days over two." On top of that, the intended pronunciation makes no more sense than the written title.

Generous might be selling it short: I've been playing the demo for nearly 7 hours and still haven't finished it. This game's demo is longer than some games' full campaign. I'm almost worried about how long the full version is going to take me.

I like the full Japanese version of the title: Bravely Default Flying Fairy. Those extra two words really up the "word soup" quotient. Sounds like a line from some kind of Lewis Carroll nonsense verse.

I read the English version of the game also, in addition to wrapping its leads up a bit more, aged them up to 18… from 15. Japan, I love you, but what the hell there buddy.

This sounds like a pretty sweet deal- turns out they have them in Canada too. Apparently my local Best Buy is one of these Zones, and I was planning on picking up my copy of the full game there tomorrow. Hopefully this'll pay off- thanks for the tip!

Gave this a crack today while running errands downtown. I was out for three hours in the heart of the city, and even went out of my way to visit two used game shops, and only picked up one Street Pass hit… for Pokemon. The Bravely Default demo didn't pick anything up. I've double checked my settings and the demo is

Star Wars is actually probably a better point of comparison for FFXII (it even has direct Han and Chewie stand ins! If you're prepared to accept Fran as Chewie, of course.) I guess I just went the Lord of the Rings route because I'm firmly in the LOTR > Star Wars camp.

I think you articulated something about voice acting that I've always felt but never really been able to express. I'm a pretty quick reader myself, so I've always been able to power through tons of dialogue and make up line readings and inflections myself. Hearing a bunch of jobbing voice actors struggling to turn a

FFIX is my favourite Final Fantasy, so I've often found myself taking a stance of Necron apologism. I've actually read some pretty interesting theories about who or what Necron is (no, honestly!), but I appreciate that for some reason the WTF factor is just way too high.

Ha! Fair enough, you've got a point. I guess JRPG horseshit and anime horseshit are two distinct species under the same genus. Related, but distinct.

I like this comment because I like the demo for basically the opposite reason- I found that once I was able to creatively mix and match skills and jobs within my party I didn't need to do all that much grinding. I needed to do a certain amount of power levelling in order to make sure everybody had respectable skill

Ah, cheers for the heads up. Guess I'm going to have to keep doing the demo the hard way- but it's comforting to know I'll be able to have the full experience with the full version while remaining at Howard Hughes levels of social isolation.

I feel your pain there bud, I had the exact same problem when I first played TWEWY. The good news is that there's a system built into the game to help people with exactly our problem. There are three different kinds of "hits" you can get when using Street Pass mode in TWEWY- ESPers (other people playing TWEWY, rare
