Do it! Seriously!
I loved your story because I was, essentially, in the same situation as you. I worked in a bookstore for some time and sold a LOT of these books to people, who couldn't say enough how incredible they were. I mentally filed them in my "to read" pile, but- let's be honest, here- that list can be…
I would say yes, maybe? Certainly, these books contain romance- but I wouldn't say that love and sex are the only things worth reading about in the series. I think that's largely what people focus on when describing this as a series for women.
Other things found in this series include: painstakingly researched…
Without being spoilery, I'll say that (in my opinion), Claire's actions (with regards to her relationship with Jamie and in terms of faithfulness to her husband) are reasonable. There are some driving forces beyond her control that move things forward possibly faster than they otherwise would be, but she does spend a…
That and "whiskey-colored". :)
That's a good point, actually. :)
I absolutely loved this pilot. A lot of people are complaining that it was dull and slow, but I feel like every second of the show serves to set up things that are important for the audience to know, both now and later. Additionally, I felt it was a nice way of giving the series a more literary feel- something I'm…
A year later, and this is STILL my dog whenever one of the cats is around.
I feel like most of her reasons are pretty justifiable, honestly. I mean, come on, most of us probably feel the same way, or have at some point.
Posting it online, on the other hand.... yeesh! Some thoughts are meant to stay inside the head, darling.
Oh my gosh, yes. I had a very big crush on Raphael for the longest time, in basically the same way.
I will shamefully add, though, that he wasn't my first crush in life. That honor belonged to Teddy Ruxpin, because I thought his voice was "sexy". Whatever I thought "sexy" meant, when I was, like, seven.
Antonio Banderas, for me, is to IWtV what Aliyah was to me in QotD. That is, I really like what each of them brought to their respective characters. I loved Antonio's version of Armand. He just wasn't Armand. Take him out of that movie, put him in an entirely different vampire movie, and it would be great.
I will say that I didn't think Aliyah's Akasha was remotely as I pictured her (though more due to costuming than anything else). I really liked the character she portrayed, I like what she did with it, but didn't feel like it the person in that movie was at all like the Queen of the Damned from the books.
Really, in…
I don't get the outrage. If a company promises something to the consumer, and the consumer buys the product on the basis of that promise, and that promise turns out to be an outright lie, why should we feel sorry for the company? Maybe companies should start actually start selling what they're advertising. That…
With regards to Claire, there are a number of references to her practicing good oral hygiene, eating greens to prevent scurvy, etc. It's actually a bit of a plot point; she even educates the people she meets on the topic. As for everyone else in the show, it's as Dances with Peeps explained: less sugar consumption.…
Honestly, I've never had too much of a desire to attend a convention (they look amazingly fun, but I have an aversion to crowds and people), but bronycon looks incredible.
I'd have to agree. These are fantastic but I have no idea how accurately they capture the essence of these places. Even Googling them helps little, as it's hard to match up what's portrayed here with the specific parts of the city that are (presumably) being represented.
The way I interpreted it was that the will was written when Bill was "dead", but while he was "impersonating" a living person, which was why it was null and void. That is, it's the date on the will that's the issue, and not whether he's a vampire or not.
With regards to creating a new will, I think the issue was…
When my oldest son was about three (and supposedly passed out for the night), he stealthily snuck into the room (unnoticed) while my husband was watching "Slither". For months, he would ask us to play "the slug movie" for him. So, don't feel bad!
Totally! My five year old still has accidents sometimes, when he gets hyper-focused on stuff and forgets. I work with special needs kids who are ten, eleven years old who still have accidents (many of whom are considered "high functioning").
Depends on the kid. In my youngest son's case, absolutely. And it had nothing to do with me being a "shitty parent" (as someone downthread asserted). Funny thing, kids develop at different rates.
