Neither the production, synths, nor beats are interesting at all, and the heavy fx only serve to obscure the vocals — which was one of the primary strengths of The Morning Benders. And the biggest crime committed by a band aspiring to pop heights: none of the songs are actually catchy.

I'm all for that. Gogol Bordello was the inspiration for the band in Wristcutters: A Love Story (which used a few Gogol Bordello songs for the soundtrack as well) and I think Hutz himself was in Everything Is Illuminated, so it seems like they're pretty open to being in films/contributing to films.
