Exactly. Buy a freaking used honda civic if you just need to commute. Get it refreshed (new brakes, new tires, etc) and keep it on the road (DO YOUR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE) and pay for major failures.

To be fair, my father has been adhering to the 15,000 mile interval with his 2012 328i and that thing is totally fine at 155k. No burning, no leaks, no noise.
