Incorrect. Apple simply went with a proprietary connector. M.2 is only a connector type. M.2 can support either SATA or PCIe for data transfer. Therefore, M.2 over PCIe with a SSD like Intel’s 750 series can support 1500 read/write speeds. M.2 has nothing to do with speed in and of itself.
