there was a show called awake where the guy survived a car crash that killed his wife or his kid, and every time he fell asleep he woke up in the opposite world. that show gave me the worst insomnia i’ve ever had

When things kicked off way back when, I thought the hardest role to cast would be Captain America. It’s easy to find handsome, athletic action hero types, but who can earnestly deliver that patriotic idealism, without it coming off as tremendously cheesy or disingenuous? And damned if they haven’t done it *twice*.

Marvel has made it easy for themselves with such tremendous casting - they just continually nail it with the perfect actors for their roles. At this point, I can’t imagine a version of Loki that isn’t defined by Hiddleston’s smarmy charm, he just inhabits the character in such a satisfying way.

They needed to set aside all the global politics and Tom Clancy shit and just focus on Sam and Bucky’s trauma and how they get over it.

Yeah. To me, it felt like the biggest problem with the series (besides Karli’s plot missing... a lot) was that it never answered the question got posed by Episode 5.

Yes. I hope they’re both on the fact that they can be friends but this is not a durable romantic relationship. Each needs to be the center, the caree of a relationship. Just find a carer. Ben needs to quit chasing hot chicks and find a nice cute crew member as did Ken Branagh and Rob Lowe. Jennifer needs to find a

Charles is really one of the best writers on any of these GMG sites. Even when I disagree with him, he always presents his points clearly and thoughtfully.

Good article. I’ve seen a handful of “no actually, the show was bad” takes floating around the net that are just blatantly attention seeking. But this did a good job at touching on some of the structural flaws without burning the whole thing to the ground.

There was a quote from a female director about superhero movies. Apologies as I can’t remember which director at the moment. I think it was about declining a job with Marvel in part because all the stories can be distilled down to “male violence fantasies”. That helped me look at these stories in a different way.

I don’t think he was in the mindset of letting her walk, but Sam knew that killing her and making her a martyr would just make the flag smashers stronger and more violent. His best case scaenario, imo, was that she turn herself in and hopefully convince enough of her followers to end their violence.

Aside: one of the things I loved most about Endgame was the connection they drew between Cap and Sam via the therapy group Steve’s running after the Snap. Cap’s just lost his best friends - again, in Bucky’s case - and half the population of the universe, so what does he do to cope with his loss? He follows Sam’s

God bless Mackie

“Even among our own population, we have at least three women with menstrual cycles impacted after having spent time with a vaccinated person,” Centner reportedly wrote in the letter.

Fauci wept.

Oh wow. I am ashamed to say I know Leila and David. I knew they were wealthy but had no idea about their politics. This is beyond the pale.

Caitlyn Jenner is the epitome of “I got mine, so fuck you”.

Never forget:

Honestly, the more likely situation is “Caitlyn Jenner, hopeless has-been fame addict, agrees to publicity stunt in order to squeeze out just a tiny drop more of public attention, and hires most effective ass-polisher to buff her backside for interim.”
