I’m a long time lurker, might not get much attention, but here goes...

This is so gross. I’m a retail manager, and my POS auto terminates people’s shifts at midnight. It’s rare, but we sometimes work later than that. I am required BY LAW to pay my employees for hours worked. It is my job to make sure that time cards are accurate, always.
