GO BACK TO EUROPE HUH.

No, I mean that using "dark" as visual shorthand for "evil" and "light" as visual shorthand for "good" has a lot of weird implications in our own world. Like, statistically speaking, people rate dark-skinned faces as less trustworthy than light-skinned faces, and I feel like these hollywood tropes kinda reinforce that

Wait, there's a hawk in that picture?

As a straight man, I think I have the necessary distance to talk about this objectively. Now, obviously the political tensions between Saudi Arabia and the UAE are one factor, but I think dismissing the well documented link between hostility and repressed sexuality in highly masculized and patriarchal cultures is...

Dark = evil. White = good. Problem, particularly for a series which really prided itself on being progressive. It's kinda like how gender inequalities and sexism don't exist in the federation, but women's uniforms are often low cut and skin tight when compared to the dude's.

I'd rather occasionally see racism where it doesn't exist, particularly with how subtle and problematic race dynamics like this can be, than refuse to see it anywhere it isn't shouting hate speech from a megaphone. Also, I don't think you know what racist means.

I'm disappointed that no one has mentioned how dumb and racist this is.

Yeah, but how could you tell it was evil if it wasn't black? Black things are evil, white things are good. Who would ever question a logical and totally not racist hollywood rule like that?

I was about to jump in with some suggestions, but it looks like they've been covered. Way to be well read and shit, io9 commenters.

Alcohol is used the most, followed by cannabis, followed by pharmaceutical opioid analgesics,

For sure! The measurement and verification standards are still under draft (LEED is consensus-based, which means a very slow and involved process for any changes) but it looks like ongoing certification is going to be one of the biggest changes. This article is a bit lingo-y, but provides a good intro to the idea:

Every sock a new sock? What a wondrous life...

Haha, I think they just bust out the real dishes for company, and use paper shit most of the time.

THIS ISN'T FAIR GUYS. You can't just judge all MRAs by a few wackos at the fringe. Most of us are actually nice, normal guys, but you females can never see that. I mean, most of us are the types of guys who will listen to your girl problems for like fucking hours and hours as you drone on and on. And help you move!

Just a BTW, but the new LEED standards currently in draft will require the use of year-long energy and water monitoring as well, to prove that LEED buildings actually live up to their design standards.

TRUE STORY: A couple my parents are friends with hates doing dishes. So they buy huge boxes of them at estate sales, and then throw them out instead of washing them. For these people, and no one else in the world, these spoons make perfect sense.

The internet has trained me to be incredibly wary of pictures of pigs.

I freelanced writing and web design on oDesk.com for a year or so - I could make about $10-15/hr but it was a shit ton of work just keeping up on contracts, interviews, short-term jobs, etc etc etc. Ended up just giving it up - but if the idea is secret stash money it might be a good fit.

That's a bold move, Eric.

Did anyone else grow up with men who were constantly taking steroids and purging? Or who cried about being fat? I seem to remember a lot more talk about our acne and skinny arms and lack/overabundance of facial hair than our movie star appeal. I mean, I feel like I know a lot of men. And maybe, zero? one? who would
