It’s baseball. And baseball, and the chess match it involves, used to move quicker. The 1996 WS had three games that were under 3 hours. The shortest game in this series was game 4 at 3:13.

Perhaps. I really don’t know what critics were saying about the show five years ago.

The problem with PoI is that it wasn’t produced by CBS. Most of the other shows you mention are produced in house, which means they are a lot cheaper for the network.

For the most part, I liked the show. But the episodes from the last season just seemed to be written to wrap it all up. I’d DVR them and just skip through minutes of the show at a time because I knew I wouldn’t really be missing much. I can’t say that I wish it was still around.

I think you have made a very astute observation.

Roger. Coleman is a nice little town of 700 people, 95% of whom are white, in northern Wisconsin. If there are riots, you can probably just go fishing and be fine.

Your response made me legit sad. I’m really sorry.

But the reality is that you do need a masters to move up to a position with more authority and compensation. And you won’t get to the top of the profession without a doctorate. Many recent graduates love the idea of working in higher education. It was such an eye-opening experience for them as a students, that

Having worked in higher education most of my career, I can tell you that the salaries for many of those “masters required” positions are so low because every time you have an opening, dozens upon dozens of people apply. I’m going to sound like a massive dick right now: It isn’t that hard to find someone who wants to

I understand missed calls happen, but I thought Fowler and Herbstreit shrugged this off a little too easy: “that was close.” It actually wasn’t close. It was pretty obvious. Only a 15 yard penalty in college so I don’t know if it would have made a difference, but that was pretty blatant.

A successful Mike Leach is good for college football. A pissed off Todd Graham is just another dime a dozen control freak.

This would never happen in Trump’s America.

Well remember that the NBA and MLB seasons are significantly longer with regular seasons plus playoffs lasting seven months or so. Furthermore, referees/umpires are travelling constantly throughout that season. NBA refs work 82 games a year. MLB umps exceed 150 games. Those are legitimate full time gigs.

Right now the refs make just shy of $200k a year with a 401(k) and everything. They have required in-week meetings and off season activities. I just don’t understand what marginal benefit you are going to get if these guys work twice as much. Are they going to see things better? Referees miss calls because

How would making them full time lead to stronger officiating? It is a 17 week regular season. What exactly would they do the other 348 days of the year?

Cmon man... Do I have to connect the dots for you?

Higher education intellectual property attorney. (Nowhere near as impressive as it sounds.)

30 years ago I was a political science major in college. This election makes me kind of ashamed of that.

Who couldn’t see this coming?

Has anyone tried reading a book lately? So damn tedious. I have no time for that.
