I'm pretty sure the max contract has way more to do with denying a player his true market value than the existence of a union. Baseball and football starts seem to get their market value just fine.

Players are going to get more because the owners just got more. There is no need to inflate your cost to try and recoup lost revenue. There is no lost revenue. Again... Just watch on TV, man.
