It amazes me how little Americans use sun shades in their windshield. I love ours! I rarely see them, even when I travel south.
I think your Porsche mechanic might have you covered. Or are you performing your own work on your Carrera GT? Brave person!
Suede in a car interior is the 90's equivalent of shag carpet!
I was a huge automobile fan in the 90's, and don’t remember this turbo, AWD model existing. It’s cool to read about now, but it doesn’t entice me like other options.
I sat in one of these at the Detroit Auto Show. I was amazed that it had more rear headroom than most of its competitors. In hindsight, my head was behind the roof and into the hatch glass. If riding there and someone hit a bump, it would have been concussion city, thus I don’t recommend the back seats.
Do people ever put those dash toupes as a protective layer, or are they always covering up defects? I’m from the midwest, so our cars dissovle before we experience dash cracking.
That’s a sweet, Japanese Sirocco!
It’s a truck engine the same way that a Porsche 911 engine is from a VW Beatle. Yet, some people just love to keep saying such things.
I didn’t respond to this poll, because my parents are buying Lexus RX hybrid model vehicles, and they are a very good choice. My dad always wanted an all electric car, but he wouldn’t want it for performance. That knocks out a lot of the choices, especially since he’s hooked on Lexus quality. I don’t think a Tesla…
People think that they are supposed to have some kind of emotional outburst when things like this happen, but that’s pure Hollywood. Shock causes us to emotionally shut-down until we know things are truly safe again.
I just did a deep dive searching for Pinto Wagons of this vintage, and that price is a lot closer than you think. A lot of lesser pintos (ie-automatics and shag carpeted cruising wagons) are listed for $11,000. If it was all original, then it is definitely worth this price based on the market. Someone paid $33,000 for…
“In this market”
Hot take: They are posting the cars for publicity, but really are using them as personal vehicles for the dealer. In the process they will find away to get tax breaks from a vague depreciation value, perhaps based on the inflated posting.
Note that the auto makers are lobbying the government to make these ‘safety’ features required, so they have a mandatory upsale on every car. (And required repair after they are damaged or age-out.)
Nice research! It’s a good thing I got through the 80's without any dain brammage.
I agree. My love for the e28 M5 makes me irrational over the looks of this thing even if it’s the second-best option with an auto-tragic. NP with negotiation?
The styling always looked kind of half assed to me... from the massive bumpers that were poorly integrated into the body...
This is still funny! (And sad, but I’ll go with funny for now.)
Huh! I wonder if that was in the user manual? I know that my parents would have the front windows down if they were going to open the back window. That makes a lot of sense.
