There is some psychology to the wanting a sports car at one’s mid-life crisis. I believe part of it is a “if I don’t get it now, I might not ever get it.” mentality.

YES! Do they intentionally put the obstinate one in that spot, or do they conform to a role they are expected to play?

We have a PDA kid at home, who the casual observer would think was a perfectly ‘normal’ child, but ask her to do a simple chore (pick up clothes was one example) and she’d become distressed and emotionally push back to the point where it took 45 minutes to pick up a sock, and it ended up…

My important ‘next step’ experience for me was taking my ‘89 Taurus SHO to an autocross event, which happened to occur after a light rain. I learned that car’s pros and cons, as well as how to handle slides. (I also found out what burning clutches and brakes smell like.)

I have to agree with you. I’m glad classic cars exist, but there are only a few I’d probably want to own. Give me galvanized panels, disc brakes, and good seat belts!

Yeah, the parents never need to see their grandkids as babies and toddlers, and funerals don’t need to be attended. Screw those dead people! They should have waited until my kids grew up!

Neither of those first two show the interior. I guess it comes down to how much originality you want. I think this is in the ballpark, even if it’s not for me. 

This is not mechanically or cosmetically interesting-enough to warrant buying a 17+ year old car which was likely sitting outside doing nothing, and which you can’t drive on the street, and will be tough to repair. Put it in storage until it’s 25 years old, and then sell it at half the current price.
