Today, the pound is 1.31 to the dollar; actually pretty strong. A couple years ago I ordered parts from England and got 1.24 to the dollar (on a $3K order it was significant). I forgot what caused the turmoil back then; anybody remember?

Also, 66 may be the nominal ‘full SS’ age, but if you continue working until 70 you get a a significantly bigger check.
I don’t think automotive companies can be great tech companies any more than tech companies can be great automotive companies (anybody seen an ‘Apple Car?’ Anybody? A Ford PC?).

I lived through the first Cold War, but we had two superpowers with responsible military people on both sides avoiding disaster:
