Yep. I was on CA unemployment for a couple months when between jobs. They paid to a debit card account, but I was able to transfer to my checking account and there were no fees (‘fees’ for making essentially expense-free financial transactions piss me off). I still get monthly ‘summaries’ on the card, which I haven’t…
Yep. Having the right tools—or, at least, something that will work—and the parts you expect to need on-hand before you start really helps. Stopping to make a run to the parts house really breaks the momentum.
Here’s how I got seriously into wrenching. When I finally told my dad I’d bought an old British sports car—and after he’d mostly gotten over his disgust—he said: “If you’re going to own a car like that, you better learn how to work on it. Bring it down and I’ll help you.” Of course, it helped that Dad was a former…
Good explanation of static CR, but no mention of dynamic CR. Dynamic—i.e. effective—CR is usually less than static CR, due to valve overlap allowing some of the intake charge to ‘leak’ out of the cylinder.
I’m seeing a new MO—or maybe it’s a ‘meme?’—here: Avowed Trump fan prefaces every comment with “I’m no Trump fan,’ then lavishly praises his man crush. Trying to have it both ways, as it were.

‘Very hard for the test driver to “see” while looking at cell phone in lap.’
If I have to pay attention I might as well drive.

So .... they ‘stroked’ the engine and ported the heads. Who’da thunk.
Quick poll: Who’s more annoying, people who don’t know the difference between ‘silicon’ and ‘silicone,’ or people who don’t know the difference between ‘brakes’ and ‘breaks?’
Like this?

‘Walker Smith pointed out that Uber’s LIDAR and radar equipment “absolutely” should’ve detected Herzberg on the road “and classified her as something other than a stationary object.”’
I’ve done lots of bonehead things, but two—both involving my Austin-Healey 3000 and my dad’s grease pit—stand out:

I believe it’s FWD. I would have recommended it to my parents—they currently have an LS they like but has been problematic (coils)—but they don’t want FWD (or AWD).
