Warner Bros Discovery Paramount WISHES their corporate synergy was as strong as your comment-username synergy.

Shit, when you put it like that, it is really sad that we lost these all these very charismatic Black male actors too early, in such a short period of time. Someone please protect Keith David for me 😭

One more snub—Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem should’ve gotten a nomination for best animated feature over Wish or Super Mario Bros (though the fact that those two made it in but not TMNT is absolutely par for the course for the Golden Globes).

HE SAID NO!

I agree the release time doesn’t seem ideal, but she was touring this past summer, and waiting until next summer feels like it’d be too late to capitalize on the hype. Maaaybe sometime January or February 2024 would’ve been better. I wonder if the strategy was to maximize the tour time during the summer and make money…

Reading that made me laugh because it immediately reminded me of an extremely similar line from Broad City, spoken by Amy Sedaris’s weirdo real estate broker character:

ā€œbut like… remember the private jet thing from last year?ā€

Same. It would be pretty hilarious if they did a whole miniseries about Capote repeatedly fighting off vicious swans at the local park, following his slow descent into madness as he tries to get them out of his life.

Thanks for the tip!!

Seriously, I wouldn’t have known about Godzilla if it weren’t for the AV Club review.

Didn’t you see? She played a lesbian journalist on TV so she’s well qualified to speak on this topic! /s

Everyone wants to talk about that pink fedora!

Maybe it’s the first sex scene for Lifetime holiday movies, but not the brand as a whole. Gotta have them in the thrillers. Deadly Mile High Club (covered by both the I Love A Lifetime Movie and How Did This Get Made podcasts!) had a guy cheating on his wife, having sex on top of a box that his kidnapped wife was insid…

Matteo Lane is funnier and also wayyy hotter. And because I listen to the podcasts of people who run in the same circles as him, I’ve also heard about how he’s such a good dude, a great painter, fluent in multiple languages, etc. etc. Just seems like a better and more talented person all around.

I don’t have Paramount+/Showtime, so I’m just waiting for the show to finish so I can get it for a month and watch. But also couldn’t resist reading about it here.

I’m guessing it was also her ā€œGaza is being treated like a concentration campā€ line, since they call out ā€œHolocaust distortionā€? To be clear I think it’s quite a reach, I didn’t even make the connection until I reread her statements a second time. Nothing about it reads as ā€œflagrant hate speechā€ as they call it.

Jesus, yeah. I was following Sarah on Instagram (though had already considered unfollowing before bc I was tired of her podcast video posts in my feed) and seeing theĀ things she was posting was jarring.

I thought she was good in In The Heights too! Plus her abs in that are insane(ly unfair).

+1 for the Caroline Siede/When Romance Met Comedy love. Probably my favorite column on this site, and impactful in that it got me to appreciate romcoms rather than looking on them all with disdain. It’s a shame how there’s no longer anything here that’s even close to level of thoughtful analysis she brought to her…

Good point. It also feels like the wrong word imo since WB-Discovery/its execsĀ ostensibly have wayyy more power than the ragtag group of people who got them to untrash the movie. It’d make more sense to call it bullying if they were on more equal ground or if the power was tipped in the creatives’ favor.
