Unique situations like this often result in hang ups. The person on the other end realizes it’s a cluster and just don’t want to deal so they are “accidentally” disconnected. That sounds right, it must have been set to miles when checked out and km on check-in. Just another example of why you need to take pictures when you rent a vehicle, the cause would have been obvious.

I’m going to assume that the car showed around 60476km on the odo. 60476km= ~37788mi and 60448-37788 = 22668. Someone didn’t fix the odo display after it was taken to the US on a previous trip.

Maybe a big bill like that will convince her to slow down.

It was the problem in the first case. Egypt has been taking its canal money but not re-investing it. So the canal is far to narrow for current traffic (by ship size) much less current traffic flow (by total number of ships wanting transit).
