Funnily enough, there have been plenty of people who made their own engines reliably and usable, although rarely in the automotive world. In the motorcycle world, however, you’d be surprised how many there are! For example:

3D print it! Either in plastic and going the ‘lost PLA’ casting route or the full-on metal 3D printer version! Although for the second route, you may need the right contacts... check out this 3D metal printed jet engine:

Only a C on daily-ability? These things were great! Although perhaps in the US the roads are large enough that a larger car wouldn’t hurt...

It may just be your steering wheel. Personally, fake leather steering wheels (just like fake-leather/plastic shoes) make me sweat bullets. BUT... real leather wheels... just fine.

1965 Volvo Amazon... and I didn’t even have my liscence back then yet...

You can get them brand new in Germany for about 9200 euros (9800usd) including taxes, so hey, go for it! If you’re in North America though, it may be a bit harder with importing and such.

Have you tried South Korea? Literally, 80% of all cars are black, grey or white Kia’s and Hyundais. And those were official numbers from somewhere! 80%!!

This 230SL Pagoda. Was around 14900 euros (15,800usd). If you know what these usually cost, a bloody great deal. Was sold within 2 days. Just a shame it was more money than in my bank account.

Hats off to you! Great article and stunning photos! This one I’m gonna save...

Didn’t this one dealer have a brand new corvette from ‘76 wih like 5 miles on it? And didn’t it get auctioned off? So that would make it technically the oldest brand new car...

I can confirm what Justino said... here in the Netherlands the road tax alone for a petrol car that weighs around 1500kg (3000 pounds) is about 900 euros per year.
I considered myself lucky when I sold my 1998 Renault Kangoo with just 90,000km (55k miles) for 1100 euros.

An old Volvo 144, yet as good as brand spankin’ new with just 316,000km on the clock! Everything on it works! With the indestructable Volvo Redblock engine, this badass mofo drove 5500km in this beast last summer!

I see this and the first thing I think is “HOLY #$@&! IT’S GOT A 70'S PORN MUSTACHE!” and we all know nothing says cool like a porn ‘stache...

Best: 1965 Volvo Amazon

Should be called why *most old cars suck.

You may have a Pagaini, but you will never have the high-end, rich and sophisticated look as you would if you were to drive this mo-fo-ing beast:

A 10kg gold bar is about 400k and you’d be surprised how small one 10kg bar is...

And yet he has an approved account? hmmm....

One more thing... I was surprised at the unreliability of BMW, Audi and Mercedes alike here in America and so did some searching...
