Agreed. Because if they didn't make an effort to do that it would sooooo detestable. Amirite?

Amelica is the incorrect, but usual Japanese phonetic pronunciation for the name of a country.
Americans weren't "fucking it up." Godzilla is the name Toho Studios came up with for the rebranding campaign they'd use in America.
Funny. For once, we're in total agreement.
When americans came across the name Gojira, they mistakenly think it's godzilla. and it stuck. that's about it.
The name "Godzilla" was coined BY Toho Studios for its American release. Gareth Edwards was not being unreasonable by requesting that Watanabe pronounce a rebranded character's name as is. I would contend, however, that Watanabe acted in a slightly unprofessional manner and his statement that calling the character…
That's nowhere near comparable.
Neither is "Godzilla." Despite what Watanabe says, Toho Studios is actually responsible for the original rebranding of the name to "Godzilla" for its American release.
It has nothing to do with katakana pronunciation. If anything it was the English version that was mangled.
Don't worry. There's always at least one politically correct village idiot in the comment thread.
I'm usually the Japanese apologist in these threads but I've got to disagree on this one. I'm trying to think of a good example but none really comes to mind, so I'll use a loose analogy:
You throw out numbers all the time as in female gamers are not a large percentage of the market. That is a massive implied number to throw out there as it implies there is likely less then 30% of the market because that would be nearing the lower end of the pool.
You throw out of a bunch of random numbers with nothing to back you up and your ideas of the other sex are based off of something like fear or hate.
They basically said, "eh we don't give a shit about the idea of a woman being the protagonist in this game, so we will just say it's to hard to do"
Well guess what? YOU'RE losing.
Big game media platforms that give Sarkeesian more attention is kinda like the BBC or CNN continuing to give climate change deniers or flat earth theorists a place to debate real academics.
There is never such a thing as an even split . . .
Let me get this straight: you believe that amongst people who consider themselves console and PC gamers, the demographics are an even split between males and females?
I am saying that one should write a better apology than the tech-guy. What the fuck is so hard to understand about that, and why are all you Kotakuboys so scared of that? Apologies are cost nothing and add joy to the world.
This, however, is closer to that (I either believe him or her —this is different than being able to help two different, unrelated people); these are much closer to in conflict, and you could not wait to side with the people who might be raping. Think about that: when in conflict, you choose to defend potential and…
