Thankfully you are a “former” localizer. I don’t believe people who don’t have a passion for the culture they are localizing content for are fit for a localization position. The content will simply be misrepresented or changed to their own point of view if they don’t understand the Japanese culture or like it.

Never censor anything ever, please. I want to be able to get the whole experience without missing absolutely anything. Just give me subtlitles and we’ll be good.
But unfortunately writing off the game means they just got away with it with NO consequence. You let one thing slide, then all of a sudden its okay to censor out ANYTHING.

As one of the few people purchasing these niche games I can tell you that to me censorship is any form of changes made to the game on a moral level. Really I just want a translation of the game as it was released in Japan. If you’re going to censor a game just come out and admit it like Nippon Ichi does.

On a positive note, as the Samus Aran body shamers distracted me, this stuff is wonderful. It’s like he looked in my brain and found my favorite things and made beautiful work. I love the Asuka too.
