Excuse me while I scream.

So several of Epstein’s victims testified at Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial back in late 2021. What I gathered from that testimoney is that Epstein and Maxwell would groom not only the children, but their parents. They had charitable organizations and deep connections to various industries (fashion, art, academics,

Oh man - my abusive (fortunately not physically abusive) used to threaten to kill himself pretty much every time I called him out on his bad behavior (because he was also a cheater). I should have 5150'ed him to make a point, but I couldn’t think straight when I was in the middle of it. I imagine that this probably

I mean, you’re assuming that the stress of the work leads to DV, rather than the equally likely causality wherein the qualities that make someone a domestic abuser and the qualities that make police work seem like the right career choice are the same.

is “upset” that their less-than-a-year-old son “won’t have both his mom and dad around constantly.”

So he tried to strangle his wife in public in front of literally thousands of cops and there are no eyewitnesses? The cops came to check on them, then just left? He called his campaign manager about strangling his wife? And this all happened at a police convention? This single story ticks almost every box on the list

sigh. police are great at killing everyone but themselves i guess

this was my immediate thought - she and the children didn’t dare to ask

I think of Austin Powers singing “Daddy Wasn’t There”

It’s mean-spirited snark like this article that will provoke Elon to buy the G/O Media sites and hire Crystal Jewell as editor-in-chief of Jezebel. Maybe it’s for the best. I think Crystal might be a good editor.

This. I don’t think she knew he was a murderer, but she must have known he was up to something odd.

“He came and I just lowered and charged, and he went through the glass. Landed right over there.”

You’re picking a fight for no reason at all.

This feels like a markedly different tone from the article you published, let’s see, two days ago.

Yes, and I can tell now the police felt the same way. They seemed very laid back with the information that a child was also endangered. “No child had been reported missing locally” is not a normal response to a credible sighting of a child in danger.

Worst character in television history. Hands down.

Right? RDJ wasn’t pretending to be a Black man. He was a playing a pretentious Australian actor pretending to be a Black man. The character is a send up of all the actors going to ridiculous lengths to play a part. The entire movie is a mockery of Hollywood pretension, racism, ableism, greed and general vacuousness.

In the context of the story, I didn’t find it offensive at all either. It was satire.

“Yes, I get the joke. I see what they were going for. But, the idea of Robert Downey Jr. spending the entire movie in Blackface, pretending to be a Black man was just wildly misguided and offensive.”

I may be one of a few brethren who did not find Downey in Tropic Thunder to be offensive.
