“No institution that deprives people of their freedom, severs family and community ties, and produces the violent power relations characteristic of carceral spaces can ever be called humane.”

I second that.

Yeah, I think a better description is progressive neoliberalism. It’s absolutely disconnected from leftist orientation. The liberal response to Mark Fisher’s “Exiting the Vampire Castle” is a good indicator of how far away Americans are from building wide ranging coalitions. Maybe even how intersectionalism in the US

I’m working on my own vocabulary, and I understand language changes and is fluid. But is there a similar push to make traditionally male health language more inclusive? If we’re talking about prostate cancer, do we need to say people with prostates? Reading articles that are now very careful to use inclusive language

Exactly. It’s an and, not an or.

Most people are good people, but the radical Left is looking for enemies where they don’t exist because it’s easier to bend a public person who’s spent her career championing the rights of women and queer people into an apology than it is to change the minds of the real monsters on the radical Right.

Yes, exactly. I think inclusive means ‘and’ rather than rigidly replacing one word with another, which to be honest, we on the Left love to do. As long as there’s no hierarchical differences in the treatment between the two (or many) nouns joined by that ‘and’, we should be good :)

“extremist identarian leftist” is kinda a bogeyman. What you’re looking at is a conflict between the extreme right and the progressive right (liberals).

In a statement pardoning her, Newsom’s acknowledged Kruzan’s crime

Do you think most women who are infertile resent the usage of a generalization that excludes them but applies to a very high supermajority of the population? I doubt it.

Is it not possible that Bette, who has always been a LGBTQ ally, just spoke poorly?

The vast majority of people in my world who are evangelizing for erasing women from the lexicon of pro-creation for the sake ofinclusion” are mostly cis-gender.

And in other news after many false starts Boris Johnson may FINALLY be fucked due to the Chris Pincher situation, his now former Deputy Whip who resigned a few days ago for sexually assaulting two men.

It is deeply ironic to me that a movement that places a lot of importance on respecting how someone wants to be addressed labels women transphobic for wanting to be addressed as such.

Are we also doing away with the word ‘men’ for ‘penis-havers’ or ‘insemination-capable people’?

What’s interesting to me about this conversation about womanhood and transpeople is that it somehow always seem to assume that all women have been treated the same, legally, in America. We know this is not true. So you have women of ethnic and cultural backgrounds whose reproductive health has never been a priority,

Oh, I guess that’s why JK Rowling was tweeting about Macy Gray.

Literally saw someone say that seeing "birthing people" used is worse than Roe being overturned. I guess having your head all the way up your ass really limits your perspective.

If transwomen were women we wouldn’t need the word transwomen in the first place. It’s transGENDER right? Your allies don’t care if you want to transition. Not in the least. But, um, you were not always a ‘woman’. This is a scientific fact. Why is acknowledging biological reality bigotry? Women are losing ground by
