It’s not a Jezebel thread without those people.

Humour is extremely subjective. Some people think Monty Python are gods (I’m one of those people), whereas others think they’re garbage. I want to slap Jim Carrey and he was a massive hit. I know people who hate Flight of the Conchords, which just doesn’t make sense to me.

Why does it have to be acceptable to everyone?

I’m not planning on watching his special or seeing any of his shows but why would I want to get him kicked off a platform? And accountability to whom? There are so many comedians out there, I don’t expect to like all of them or agree with what they say, and when I know someone’s stuff isn’t my jam, I don’t watch it.

He certainly was hurt financially. The bulk of his income isn’t from the crown, it’s from all the shady deals he used to make when he was in good standing with his family and the government and leveraged that as income in exchange for introductions to the right people.

That or he’s talking to the royalists while Kate has the job of trying to appeal to the rest of the masses so they don’t end up losing their allowances and having to pay for castle repairs themselves. Maybe William speaks to the monarchists who actually do see themselves as his ‘subjects’ and for whom an ‘ungrateful

No, it’s just an illustration that both sides do their fair share of cancelling, for different reasons. The left is just more likely to eat its own.

Dorland not only started a Facebook group about the donation, she contacted the people she invited to the group who didn’t respond or react to her posts, to ask why they weren’t showering her with praise.

Doland is claiming this is about plagiarism because this is her only legal recourse, but this is in large part about the sting of having a group of mean girls (and guys) snickering behind your back after you donated a fucking kidney, and wanting to smack the smug off their faces.”

Donating blood or even bone marrow and posting about it is totally different to donating a fucking kidney. Blood donation is something everyone should be encouraged to do.

It’s clear Claire had built these acquaintances (Sonya and co) up as friendships in her mind, just like she thought these people ever considered her their equal, when it’s just obvious that wasn’t ever the case.

Really? I feel like if you ever tell someone you value their friendship it’s a polite way of letting them know they’re not actually your friend, just an acquaintance.

I’m not entirely sure Nick Cannon knows what an adjective is.

This is actually a reply to your last comment to me but Kinja is fucking broken so I can see your comment in my dashboard but when I try to follow the link to see the entire comment and respond, it’s nowhere to be found (even if I click ‘show pending’).

Speaking of flattening, that’s a pretty bad faith interpretation of what I said, which is that using the images of light-skinned actresses who are cast in roles of dark-skinned women takes the heat off the producers/writers/casting directors/studio executives - you know, the people with the actual power to change

And you’re using the same tired approach of pitting women against each other which only serves to maintain the status quo.

I agree. I also think it’s really unfair to put the onus on these actresses to turn down roles (when it’s not like there are that many good roles for WOC, even light skinned ones) and insist that a darker-skinned woman be cast because that would just lead to that actress being categorised as ‘difficult’ and

I don’t think anyone is denying that.

At least they’ve moved on from personally blaming the light skin actresses who are given the roles and obsessing over their reactions to the outrage, and they at least acknowledge that these women being given preference is a symptom, not the root cause.

Not slow purge so much as jumping off the burning pile of shit GMG has become.
